Here we go again

“[I]n this world the nation that has trained itself to a career of unwarlike and isolated ease is bound, in the end, to go down before other nations which have not lost the manly and adventurous qualities. If we are to be a really great people, we must strive in good faith to play a great part in the world.”

  1. Combining the social Darwinism of the Bull Moose with spirit of present-day mindless chest thumping for only 19.95 a pop. What could be more American?

  2. Ummm… We’re going to base (what we laughably call our) strategy on “ambitions”?!?! I guess that sounds a little more thoughtful than pinning everything on ISIS’ “wishes” or “fantasies”, but not much.

As far as Iberia goes, somehow I don’t see the re-Reconquista happening any time soon. And the chances of ISIS leading the way are worse than those of Powerball odds.

You don’t even need to know the details of our newest bestest crusade that we will ultimately regret it. It is completely devoid of strategic coherence and historical insight. We propose to fight a group coddled by OUR OWN partners and allies, the Saudis and Erdogan’s Turkey. Said group is the avowed foe of OUR OWN enemy du jour, Assad in Syria.

The whole show is going to be “managed” by the same Beltway and Pentagon clowns who’ve proven their incompetence over a quarter-century, now. These are the same people who spent years staring at the USSR, but were totally blindsided when it fell apart. They are the same people who, in 2003, really truly believed that Saddam Hussein’s rump state could run a Manhattan Project on the sly. (I live in the Beltway, and I have met some of these people.)

We can throw a trillion dollars’ worth of bombs at ISIS. It won’t matter. The whole looney-tunes scheme will die of its own immense self-contradictions.

  3. ‘These are the same people who spent years staring at the USSR, but were totally blindsided when it fell apart.’

You mean, Except for Ronald Reagan who predicted they were headed for the dustbin of history?

Is ISIS any weaker than Lenin and his Zurich cafe society during WWI? Adolph and his beerhall putschers in the 1920s?

  4. Why do you come here? If you want a platform, other sites have much more traffic. I have no interest in a dialog with you.
